: M.P.H.F.G.S./Parafix Golf Day
The 2008 Olympic opening ceremony coincided with the annual combined golf society, no smog, no major infrastructure costs, no American Presidents at Singing Hills Sussex, but a group of under trained golfers who frankly were valueless in talent enjoyed yet another memorable event. The course was in fantastic condition, the Harvey's bitter in fine form, the 3 meals during the day enjoyed by all. The 48 mixed field (featuring the inaugural all female team) played a 9 ball Texas Scramble followed by an 18 hole individual full handicap Stableford competition.
The morning event was dominated by a 5 under gross result team of Captain Simpson (aka Big Dick), Buckman, James and Punter. The one subject that dominated the luncheon table was how could any of the rest of the mere mortals compete with these guys on such hot form? But like all great sporting events anything can and indeed did happen. Brian Pendry thought to be the oldest player of the group, representing the DOY, played a game of his life and returned a score of 45 points. This year's winner of the MPHFGS Trophy was further rewarded with a day at the famous Wentworth Club. Other competitions included nearest the pins and longest drives, the winners being; nearest the pin, Doug Drummond and John Fatuhi, with the longest drives producing interesting twists; Phil Scarfield just piping Big Dick Simpson, Dick's drive was longer(it would be) but 2 inches in the rough when compared to Phil's 3 inches out of the rough. The other longest drive was from Dan Crisp who again beat Dick's 317 yard drive! The Hip Flask was won by Rodders for no other reason than his score was so poor he could not even win the wooden spoon! As can be seen we had a great day, if any customers interested in joining us next year please talk to your Parafix contact.
