: Parafix Improves Converting Capability
One of Parafix's constant aims is to always increase the capabilities of its factories, thus offering a growing converted product service offering to its customers.
One recent addition to the family of machines is Parafix's first ever travelling head press. It is one of the most versatile systems for cutting both rolls and sheets and the ideal automatic cutting solution for applications using materials of differing natures. The "pinch and feed" bars ensure an accurate material feed and proper fixing during conversion, whilst the feeding and cutting belt is made of nylon to ensure its long operational life. With an available cutting head of 450mm x 450mm, multi impression tools can be used for greater output, and the machine's programming software enables minimum gaps between cuts to be achieved and therefore waste is kept to a minimum. It can handle raw material inputs of 1500mm for sheets and 1000mm for rolls, enabling less preparation, and has a maximum cutting speed of 90 strokes per minute, at up to 40 tons of pressure. Section Supervisor, Rickie Souter comments: "This is a really valuable addition to our already comprehensive flat-bed die cutting section. It enables us to cut thicker foam, plastic, rubber and textile materials, and the reduction in preparation and the ability to cut several layers of material at one time means that this should be a very cost effective addition for our entire customer base."
